Daisy Seed - Designed For Manufacturing (DFM)

Seed2 DFM is a streamlined version of the Daisy Seed that is specifically designed for embedding into mass-produced, commercial applications. It features a powerful ARM processor running at 480mHz, high fidelity audio converters, and enough memory for up to 10 minute long audio buffers.

Differences from Seed:

  • Low profile SMT mating headers for easy assembly
  • Differential audio outputs for superior noise performance
  • No JTAG debug header installed for cost reduction
  • 2 additional ADC/GPIO pins

Why use the DFM?

  • Less PTH soldering
  • Fits into tight mechanical spaces
  • Lower cost
  • More flexibility on audio IO circuitry

Who should NOT use the DFM?

  • Designers that manually assemble prototypes
  • Designers that are not comfortable with SMT headers
  • Designers that do not want to add complex audio circuitry to their carrier boards

If any of these things apply to you, please check out the standard Daisy Seed form factor.

Hardware

  • ARM Cortex-M7 MCU running at 480mHz: STM32H750
  • High fidelity Burr-Brown stereo audio codec: PCM3060
  • 64MB SDRAM for up to 10 minute long audio buffers
  • 8MB flash for non volatile storage / additional program space

Pinout Includes:

  • 33 total GPIO pins which can be configured as standard GPIO or one of several alternate functions including 16-bit Analog to Digital Converters (x14)
  • 12-bit Digital to Analog Converters (x2)
  • SD Card interfaces
  • PWM outputs
  • Serial protocols for connecting to external sensors and devices including SPI, UART, I2S, and I2C
  • Dedicated VIN pin for power (input range from 6V to 17V)
  • Micro USB port along with additional USB pins for full OTG-support as host and device. Port can be used for power, firmware, and debugging.
